Feast of the Ascension

You are cordially invited to celebrate one of the main feasts of the Christian year, that usually never occurs on Sunday, the Feast of the Ascension of our Lord, on Thursday, May 9 at 6:30 p.m.  The feast will be celebrated with our Choir praying a Solemn Service of Choral Evensong.  This completely sung service, since the sixteenth century, has provided a daily opportunity for contemplation, prayer and praise throughout the Anglican communion, of which, the Episcopal church is a part.  As part of the service, the canticles will be the Short Service by Gibbons (the Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis) and the Anthem will be Jacubus Gallus’ Ascendit Deus.
